About The Jeffersonville Elks Lodge Country Club Tradition
An English actor founded the Elks in New York in 1867. Sadly, he passed away just before Christmas, leaving his wife and children penniless.
After this tragedy happened, the local community dedicated themselves to helping the less fortunate. So on February 16, 1868, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was founded. This order helped open local lodges all over the United States!
